I am so excited to bring to you today, the CSB Study Bible for Women. So what exactly is a CSB study Bible? The CSB Study Bible is designed to help you know and be transformed by God’s Word. It features reliable text and keeps Scripture primary on every page.
I received the light turquoise and white hardback cover. You can also purchase the floral imitation leather cover or brown imitation leather cover shown above.
This Bible is made for women. To help women understand how the Bible translates for the every modern day women. Who were the women of the Bible? What are the Biblical women principles? It also answers tough questions like women sexuality. I think this Bible is perfect for the women of today. It helps women understand that God loves them and he wants them to be the best version of themselves. But also honoring God and his Word.
My review is going to be a visual overview/review to take you through the main aspects of the Bible and what areas I found to be most beneficial.
Each section or chapter of this Bible has this beautiful floral detail at the top. How gorgeous is the graphic? I also really appreciated that it started with a section on how to study the Bible. If you are new to studying the Bible, this is an excellent section to read. My personal favorite method is the S.O.A.P. method if you are looking for an easy way to study the Bible!
Each book of the Bible starts who wrote that particular book, who were the recipients, when and where it was written, and what that particular book is about. This is especially beneficial for people who are new to Christianity and the Bible. It will help them understand each book of the Bible and why it's important to read. They also included a timeline at the bottom - which I found super helpful as I am a visual learner!
Throughout the Bible there are Doctrine's and Character Profiles. The character profiles are filled with women of the Bible. Who were they? Why are they important and what kind of lessons can I learn from them? This little section will answer all that! It gives specific Bible verses to read for you to journal and study.
The Doctrine sections help you understand important beliefs and terms. It also references Bible verses to study to help further understand that Doctrine. I absolutely love these little Doctrine's. It really helps me understand Christianity better and how it applies to my life.
You all know that I love maps! And this Bible has quite a few of them. Maps really help me visually understand the Bible. What it was like during that time and how the land developed over time. I also love that they are super colorful and easy to read!
At the bottom or side pages of the Bible, you will find Word Studies and Biblical Womanhood sections. The Word Study sections help you understand certain terms of the particular book you are reading. And the Biblical Womanhood sections help you be the Christian woman God intended you to be.

Dorothy Kelley Patterson
Professor of Theology in Women’s Studies
The First Lady Dorothy Kelley Patterson serves as professor of theology in women’s studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The wife of President Paige Patterson, the mother of Armour and Carmen, and the doting grandmother of Abigail and Rebekah, she finds her duties as the First Lady of Southwestern to be challenging and fulfilling. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hardin-Simmons University, a Masters of Theology (Th.M.) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) from Luther Rice Seminary, and a Doctor of Theology (D.Theol.) from the University of South Africa. She and her husband have traveled in ministry to more than 135 countries.
Despite the successful completion of these degrees, Patterson’s theological education was not her idea: “My husband is responsible for my studies in theology. I did not have the inclination to do it. My health challenges and responsibilities in our home as wife and mother just pulled me away from an interest in the pursuit of graduate and post-graduate studies. I owe my graduate education to my husband’s encouragement and determination to put me through these programs in order that I could excell in the area of woman-to-woman teaching. The bonus for me is what this education has done to equip me to be a better helper to my husband.”
Patterson has authored a number of books and articles, including: Touched by Greatness: Women in the Life of Moses, The Handbook for Ministers’ Wives, The Family: Unchanging Principles for Changing Times, BeAttitudes for Women, and A Woman Seeking God: Discover God in the Places of Your Life. She has also co-edited the Women’s Evangelical Commentary series with both Old and New Testament volumes, The Christian Homemaker’s Handbook, and The Study Bible for Women. Dr. Patterson was a member of the founding group of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood and served as president of the SBC Ministers’ Wives Luncheon in 2006.
For over four decades, Patterson has focused her teaching ministry on the practical question, “What is God saying to me as a woman?” One of her greatest challenges came early in her life. “I had been married only about a year when I became pregnant unexpectedly.” In the middle of a challenging academic program, the pregnancy seemed inconvenient. But when complications required that she go on bed rest, suddenly saving her baby was the most important thing in her life: “I was unsuccessful and lost the baby at home and alone in a very painful way. My life was changed forever at that point. I realized clearly that my own selfishness and personal goals had tainted my attitude toward the blessing of a child. The Lord used that experience not only to draw me to Himself for comfort in a very difficult time but also to establish once and for all in my own life and heart the value of a child and the sanctity of life.”
Despite a demanding teaching and administrative schedule, Patterson finds great joy in hospitality ministries. She loves serving people in special ways and opening her home to guests. She also loves to cook and is known for her family’s famous “Kelley biscuits.” Dorothy Patterson hopes she will be remembered most as, “a faithful wife who helped her husband, a mother who nurtured her children and grandchildren, and a homemaker who has taken special joy in ministering through her home.”
